Doesn’t it feel wonderful to crawl into a freshly made bed? Here are a few tips to make sure you continue to enjoy a neat and tidy, freshly made bed no matter your level of vision.
Now, the simplest way to make your bed in the morning is to just pull the covers up to your head before you even get out of it. Then slide on out and smooth the covers.
And when it’s time to change the sheets, here are a few tips to help the process go as smoothly and easily as possible. In the best of all worlds, your bedroom furniture is arranged so that you can easily work on both sides of the bed.
Now, gather all the things you’ll need and place them on a clean, consistent place near the bed like a chair or another bed.
Next, you’ll need to find the midpoint of the sheets before you remove them. A handy way to do that is to pin a safety pin to the middle of the sheet down at the bottom. You can leave the pin in for washing and folding.
Now, remove the sheets and put them in a dirty pillowcase to keep everything together for washing. Then get the clean fitted sheet and figure out which is the underside. It’s usually the side with the seam.
Standing at the center of one side of the bed, unfold the sheet onto the bed. Be sure you’re spreading the long side from the center to the head and foot of the bed. Once that’s finished, get the top sheet and find the top and bottom of it. Usually, the top hem is wider, and the tag is on the bottom hem.
Once again, stand at the center of the side of the bed, unfold the sheet, spreading the long side of it out toward the head and foot of the bed. Use both hands to smooth the whole sheet, working from the middle of the bed to the outer edges.
Now, you’ll stand at the foot of the bed in order to center the sheets. To make it easier to find the center, make a marker at the middle of the head and foot of the mattress. Use something like Velcro, a button or safety pin. Do this also to all the sheets and covers you use on your bed. Then line up the markers on the covers and sheets with those on the bed.
Next, you’ll check the length of the sheets using a reference point. This could be where it hits you on your legs, a certain spot on the bedframe or a marker on the bedpost. Do this on both sides and the bottom.
Last but not least, put the pillowcase on your pillow. And if you’re having too hard a time doing this, you might want to get a larger pillowcase or a smaller pillow.
Now, sweet dreams… And as always, contact a learning expert if you have questions or your own tips to share. Of course, as with anything new, give yourself time, patience, and practice and you’ll get there.
