Hi, my name is Vikki Vaughan, and today we'll discuss one of the main uses of Facebook, connecting with friends. When we friend someone on Facebook, we have access to each other's activities and we can share life events. We do this through posts, stories, photos, and videos.
In today's workshop, we'll learn how to search for and add a friend, and accept a friend's request. We will also talk about what it means to follow celebrities, groups, and businesses that we're interested in.
This series is designed for people who use a screen reader. If you're not a screen reader user, be sure to check out Hadley's low vision version of this series.
Let's start out with searching for friends. We've already logged into our account. Let's press control plus home to move to the top of our homepage.
Screen Reader: Banner Landmark visited link Facebook.
Vikki Vaughan: It's nice to know that we can use our control key to silence our screen reader.
Ed: Now that you've had a chance to learn a bit with us, we'd like to learn more about you. Your name, email address, how you heard about Hadley, and your relationship to vision loss. Learning more will give us a better understanding of how to personalize Hadley just for you. And don't worry, everything you share with us online will be kept safe and secure. Of course, if you'd prefer to talk through these questions, we're just a phone call away at 800-323-4238.
Taking these few steps saves your preferences so you can continue right where you left off and track your progress every time you log on. Plus, it connects you to the Hadley community and helps sustain our funding to keep Hadley free of charge. And last but not least, it gives you direct access to experts like me. Now, where were we?
