iPhone/iPad VoiceOver: Safari Reader

Hello my name is Douglas Walker. Today, we will be checking out our Safari Reader. Now our Reader feature is available when we are using our Safari app.

Now, the Safari reader is one of the lesser known features that can really help to make reading an article on the internet so much easier. And, it does this by removing all the ads, and the images within an article. And that means that we're only given the text of that the article that we need. And that really is super nice.

So, let's go ahead and take a look at exactly how our Safari Reader works. All right we already have Safari open. And, we found an article that we would like to read here. Yeah, this is about cooking steaks. All about cooking out. So we'll go ahead and just double tap to open up our article here. And, we'll go ahead and just double tap.

VoiceOver: A steak to remember, six tips for making it juicy and tasty. Heading level two link, reader available. Format options button. Show webpage formatting options, including reader, actions available.

Douglas: All right, we heard VoiceOver announce that our reader is available. And to open our Safari Reader, we will use our Format Options button. And we'll find our Format Options button in the top left hand corner of our screen here. So we'll go ahead and just touch our Format Options button.

Douglas: Great and of course here we are. And now we heard VoiceOver announce that we have actions available. And within our actions, we will find our Safari Reader. Of course to move through our actions, we'll simply swipe up or down our screen. So, let's go ahead and do it, we'll just swipe down our screen here. And we'll swipe down.

VoiceOver: Show reader view.

Douglas: Great and VoiceOver announced show reader view. So, you guessed it, all we have to do to open our Safari Reader, is just double tap. Yeah, so we'll go ahead and just double tap here. All right, our Safari Reader has opened. And we noticed that our links, and all of our advertisements, and a lot of the other visual clutter is gone. And this is great. So all we need to do now to begin reading our article here, is simply swipe down our screen with two fingers. So, let's go ahead and do it. We'll just swipe down our screen here with two fingers.
