Donahoe Center for Support
Annie - The hardest thing for me was to step out of the world of vision and step into the world of visual impairment, and the shock of it really sent me into a depression.
Johnjoe - Vision loss affects more than what you see. It impacts your sense of self. For older adults with age-related vision loss, the emotional toll is often overwhelming, yet rarely discussed out in the open. Too often, they're left to face this profound loss, believing they're alone. I'm Johnjoe Farragher, president and CEO of Hadley, and that's why we launched the Donahoe Center for Support, the heart of Hadley's mission to care for the whole person facing vision loss. From the moment they're welcomed by the specialists at the Donahoe Center for Support, Hadley's members receive the right help, right when they need it. With compassionate assistance, a caring community, and trusted resources they can access at any time, they face the social emotional challenges of vision loss and rediscover hope, purpose, and belonging.
Greg - It's one of the best things that I think that's happened since my vision loss. When I got in contact with Bill, it was immediate. It's been a tremendous help.
Cynthia - I want everyone to know that has called in and left their story, that these stories have helped me tremendously.
Jack - It just helps you know the same goal. You're not alone.
Johnjoe - Named in honor of our longtime Hadley trustee, Tom Donahoe and his legacy of service, the center is a cornerstone in our vision to help 1 million people by 2030. It strengthens our ability to provide one-on-one support and extends our reach, helping more people wherever they are and whenever they need it. Because of the Donahoe Center for Support at Hadley, no one has to face vision loss alone.

John: My dad was someone that loved people and he had a way of making a human connection with people. What I think is so cool about what you're doing is using technology but using it to enhance human connection.
I think if my dad were here, he would be so delighted that that human element is not going to get lost. In fact, it's going to get enhanced and spread.
Susan: When dad got involved with things, he went all in, and Hadley was one of the things that he got involved with and went all in. Towards the end of his life, dad started to have some vision loss. I think he would be so thrilled to know there are resources to help people through it, including families who maybe don't understand what the person is going through.
Martha: Moving forward with this, he's looking down smiling. He's beaming with pride. This may not have been something that he would've thought of himself, but it is something that embraces who he is and what he would want to carry on.
