Hi, my name is Vikki Vaughan, and in today's workshop, we'll walk through creating our Facebook profile. We'll personalize our profile by adding several photos. This series is designed for people who use a screen reader.
If you're not a screen reader user, be sure to check out Hadley's Low Vision version of this series.
Now, before we get started, you'll need to create your Facebook account. You can find directions for creating your account in the Resource section below this workshop. It will take you step-by-step through the process.
This workshop picks up after you've created your Facebook account, and takes you to the next step, creating your profile. The first thing we'll do is add a cover photo. Then we'll add a profile picture.
The cover photo is a larger photo at the top of our profile. Our profile picture is the image that others see throughout Facebook, like when we comment on a friend's post. Now we're logged into Facebook and we'll start off by moving to the top of our homepage by pressing Control plus Home.

Vikki: Keep in mind that we don't have to use a picture in our profile. We can also use a favorite image. Since our profile picture and our name will always be public, pictures make it easier for others to identify us if they want to send us a friend request. We can also add information to our Facebook profile that makes it easier for others to find us. This information, like our name, profile, and cover photo will always be public. There's also more detailed information we can share such as our workplace, education, current city, hometown, our relationship and name pronunciation. We have the option to add or edit information for any of these categories. If you'd like to learn more about how to include this information, see an example in our resources below this workshop.
In today's workshop, we created our Facebook profile. We personalized our profile by adding a profile picture and a cover photo. These features help our friends locate us on Facebook. I'm Vikki Vaughan, and I thank you for joining me.
