Douglas Walker: Hello, my name is Douglas Walker. Today we'll be exploring our Apple Watch notification center. Our notification center gives us the ability to quickly see our recent notifications and we'll find app notifications from things like our recent emails, our recent text messages, any missed calls that we may have received, and any other app notifications that we might have missed.
Now, before we get started, we'll want to make sure that our Voiceover setting is turned on and the easiest way to turn it on is in our Apple Watch app on our iPhone down in our accessibility settings. All right, how about we jump right in and check out our notifications? All right, to get to our Apple Watch notifications, all we have to do is swipe down our watch base with two fingers. So how about we give it a try? We'll swipe down our watch base with two fingers.
VoiceOver: Notification Center. Wallet, Starbucks. Your balance is now $6.04. One hour ago. Swipe up or down to select a custom action, then double tap to activate.
Douglas: All right, our notification screen is open and we have been placed on our last or most recent notification. And in this case, we're on our wallet notification. Now we could just double tap on our wallet notification here and our wallet app will automatically open, and that's really great. Now we also heard Voiceover announced that we've been given actions for our wallet notification and we actually have actions for each of our notifications in our list here. And to move through our actions, we'll just swipe up or down our screen with one finger. So how about we give it a try? We'll swipe down.
VoiceOver: Clear.
Douglas: Yeah, we heard Voiceover announce "clear", so we know that all we need to do is just double tap and our wallet notification will be cleared from our notifications list. But we don't want to do that because we'll just swipe down for now and check out our next action here. So we'll just swipe down.
VoiceOver: Manage.
- Okay, we heard Voiceover say "manage", and if we were to double tap here, we could choose to have our wallet notifications muted for an hour, which means we'd no longer hear our watch pinging when we get a wallet notification. Or we could choose to turn off our wallet notifications completely, which could be really nice, especially if we no longer need or want to receive notifications for this app. Okay, let's go ahead and check out our next action here and we'll go ahead and swipe down.
VoiceOver: Activate default.
Douglas: All right. Voiceover announced, "activate". And we were told that this is our default action, so we know that if we were to double tap that our wallet app would open. And hey, you know, that's pretty great. Okay, we only have three actions here and we'll discuss how to clear all of our notifications in just a bit. But for now, let's just go ahead and left swipe through the rest of our notifications and we'll go ahead and just left swipe.
VoiceOver: App store. Subscription price increase. Max: Stream H-
Douglas: Yeah and here's a notification from our app store and that we just did our two finger single tap to mute that right there. So we'll go ahead and just left swipe from here.
VoiceOver: Clear all button.
Douglas: Great. And we heard our clear all button here. And now we mentioned earlier that we've been given a way to quickly clear all of our notifications. Well, here you go. All we have to do is just double tap. All of our notifications will be cleared and we'll be placed right back on our watch face. Now, if we don't want to clear our notifications, we could quickly close our notification center by just pressing our digital crown, which is the large round button on the right hand side of our Apple Watch. But let's go ahead and clear all of our notifications. Yeah, we'll go ahead and just double tap.
VoiceOver: 11:28 AM
Douglas Walker: Great. All of our notifications have been cleared and we've been placed right back on our watch face. Yeah and yeah, there you go. That pretty much covers how to get the most from our notification center. You know, it really is so great that right within our notification center, we can quickly find, manage, and even clear all of our Apple Watch notifications. Again, my name is Douglas Walker. Take care and I'll see you next time.
