The Spoken Rx service from CVS Pharmacy is such a useful tool for ensuring that we take the right medication in the right dose at the right time. With a Smart Tag prescription label and the CVS Pharmacy mobile app your prescription info will be spoken aloud so that you know which medication you're holding and how to take it without anyone's help.
In our first workshop, we completed the process of getting set up with Spoken Rx. Now it's time to take a tour of the CVS Pharmacy mobile app so we'll be ready to scan a prescription. This workshop covers the CVS Pharmacy mobile app for Android devices. If you're using an iPhone take a look at the workshops designed for Apple devices.
By the way, if you're brand new to talk back and not yet familiar with all the gestures there are some fantastic resources on the Hadley website that will tell you everything you need to know for getting around on your phone.
Before we explore the CVS Pharmacy mobile app we'll first need to make sure it's installed. To do that, search for CVS Pharmacy in the Play Store. And once you've found the app tap the install button to download it. The resources section for this workshop on the Hadley website has some great tips on using the Play Store. If you're not yet familiar with it once the app is installed, we'll open it from the home screen and we're ready to go.
Alright, there's a lot of cool stuff to explore here. So let's start by checking out the bottom of our screen. There are four tabs here and we can tap or double tap if we're using talk back to select the tab we want. The first tab is our home tab and it's our starting place. This is where we'll find things like the CVS weekly ad the latest deals, plus a link to the pharmacy section. We'll spend a little more time here later.
Our second tab is for the CVS Extra Care card so we can either sign up for a card or show information about the card we already have. Next, there's the account tab for creating a new account or signing into an existing account. We'll spend a little more time here in just a bit. And finally, there's the find store tab. This is a great place to find information about your closest CVS store. Such as hours and contact info. Great, now that we know where everything is let's head over to the account tab. We'll tap to select. Or of course, if we're using talk back, we'll just touch to bring our focus to it.
Talkback: Account tab. Tab account, three of four, enlist four items
Ricky: And then we'll double tab
Talkback: CVS account heading out of list.
Ricky: Now that our account tab is selected, we have options to create an account or sign into an existing account. We'll find these options at the top of our screen. If we're locating the buttons visually, they're just beneath the welcome text at the top of the app. The button for creating an account is on the left side of our screen, and the sign-in button is on the right. To get to these options using talk back, we can explore by touch to find them or we can give ourselves a landmark and swipe from there. We'll just touch the top right corner of our screen
Talkback: Shopping cart, double tap to activate.
Ricky: And now we'll begin swiping right to find our options.
Talkback: Welcome.
Ricky: And again, we'll swipe right.
Talkback: Create account button, double tap to activate.
Ricky: And when we swipe once more we'll find the option to sign in.
Talkback: Sign in button, double tap to activate.
Ricky: Nice. We won't be going through the sign in or account creation process together, but here's what you'll need. To create an account just enter an email address, your first and last name, and a password that you'll use to sign in. If you like, you can also provide your phone number and you can choose to get text alerts about deals and rewards that might interest you.
Alright, once we have a CVS account, what's next? It's time to sign in, so we'll select our sign-in button. We can do that either by swiping right from our shopping cart or by checking down below our shopping cart button at the top right hand corner of our screen.
Talkback: Sign in button, double tap to activate.
Ricky: And now we'll just enter our email address and password. There are also some really convenient options here to save us time in the future. We can ask the app to remember who we are to save typing in all this info and we can even use our fingerprint or face to sign in.
Excellent, we're so close to scanning our first prescription with Spoken Rx. Now that we're signed in, we'll do one last thing to get ready for scanning. Let's head back down to the bottom of our screen and select our home tab. It's the first tab here so we'll find it at the bottom left of our screen.
Talkback: Home tab, tab home, one of four, enlist four items Double tap to select.
Ricky: We'll tap, or again if we're using talk back, that'll be a double tab.
Talkback: CVS CVS pharmacy image out of list.
Ricky: And there we go. We're all set up and ready to discover how to scan. Check out the next workshop in this series to find out how to do just that. You're one step closer to managing your medications easily and confidently with Spoken Rx.
