Ricky: The Spoken Rx service from CVS Pharmacy is such a useful tool for ensuring that we take the right medication in the right dose at the right time. With a smart tagged prescription label and the CVS Pharmacy mobile app, your prescription info will be spoken aloud so you know which medication you're holding and how to take it, without anyone's help. In our first workshop, we completed the process of getting set up with Spoken Rx. Now it's time to take a tour of the CVS Pharmacy mobile app so we'll be ready to scan a prescription. This workshop covers the CVS Pharmacy mobile app for Apple Devices. If you're using Android, take a look at the workshop designed for your Android phone. By the way, if you're brand new to VoiceOver and not yet familiar with all the gestures, there is some fantastic resources on the Hadley website that'll tell you everything you need to know for getting around on your phone. Before we can explore the CVS Pharmacy mobile app, we'll first need to make sure it's installed. To do that, search for CVS Pharmacy in the App Store, and once you've found the app, tap the Get button to install it. The resources section for this workshop on the Hadley website has some great tips on using the app store if you're not yet familiar with it. Once the app is installed, we'll open it from the home screen.
VoiceOver: CVS Pharmacy home, heading.
Ricky: And we're ready to go. All right, there's a lot of cool stuff to explore here so let's start by checking out the bottom of our screen. There are four tabs here and we can tap, or double tap if we're using VoiceOver, to select the tab we want. The first tab here is our Home tab, and it's our starting place. This is where we'll find things like the CVS Weekly Ad, the latest deals, plus a link to the pharmacy section. We'll spend a little more time here later. Our second tab.
VoiceOver: Show card, tab two of four.
Ricky: Is for the CVS ExtraCare card. So we can either sign up for a card or show information about the card we already have. Next.
VoiceOver: Account tab, three of four.
Ricky: There's the Account tab for creating a new account or signing into an existing account. We'll spend more time here in just a bit. And finally, there's the Find Store tab.
VoiceOver: Find Store tab, four of four.
Ricky: This is a great place to find information about your closest CVS store, such as hours and contact info. Great. Now that we know where everything is, let's head over to the Account tab. We'll just tap to select, or, of course, if we're using VoiceOver, we'll double tap.
VoiceOver: Account tab.
Ricky: Now that our Account tab is selected, we have options to create an account or sign into an existing account. We'll find these options at the top of our screen. If we're looking for the buttons visually, they're just beneath the welcome text at the top of the app. The button for creating an account is on the left side of our screen, and the sign in button is on the right. To get to these options using VoiceOver, we can just explore by touch to find them, or we can give ourselves a landmark and swipe from there. We'll touch the top right corner of our screen.
VoiceOver: Cart button.
Ricky: And now we'll begin swiping right to find our options.
VoiceOver: Welcome.
Ricky: And again, we'll swipe right.
VoiceOver: Create account button.
Ricky: And when we swipe once more, we'll find the option to sign in.
VoiceOver: Sign in button.
Ricky: Nice. We won't be going through the sign in or account creation process together, but here's what you'll need. To create an account, just enter an email address, your first and last name, and a password that you'll use to sign in. If you like, you can also provide your phone number and you can choose to get text alerts about deals and rewards that might interest you. All right, once we have a CVS account, what's next? It's time to sign in, so we'll select our sign in button at the top right of our screen.
VoiceOver: Sign in button.
Ricky: And now we'll just enter our email address and password. There are also some really convenient options here to save us time in the future. We can ask the app to remember who we are to save typing in all this info, and we can even use our fingerprint or our face to sign in. Excellent. We're so close to scanning our first prescription with Spoken Rx. Now that we're signed in, we'll do one last thing to get ready for scanning. Let's head back down to the bottom of our screen and select our Home tab. It's the first tab here, so we'll find it at the bottom left of our screen.
VoiceOver: Tab bar, Home tab, one of four.
Ricky: We'll tap that, or again, if we're using VoiceOver, that'll be a double tap. And there we go. We're all set up and ready to discover how to scan. Check out the next workshop in this series to find out how to do just that. You're one step closer to managing your medications easily and confidently with Spoken Rx.
