Hello, my name is Douglas Walker. Today, we're gonna be looking at how to place a phone call using Siri. Now Apple likes to call Siri our personal assistant. And with Siri, we're able to do things like set calendar appointments, get walking directions, or even send a text message. And today, of course, is all about placing a phone call. So let's jump right in and use Siri to place our phone call.
Now most of the time, Siri is turned on during our setup process. However, if you didn't have a chance to set it up then, check out our resource area just below this workshop. There, you'll find step by step directions for exactly how to get Siri all set up.
Yeah, and another note, we currently have voiceover running which is Apple's built-in screen reading software. This will ensure that we get the most interaction from Siri. And if you're not familiar with voiceover, you're really gonna wanna check out our Listen with VoiceOver series.
All right, all we have to do to start Siri is to either say "Siri" or "Hey Siri." It really all depends on how we've set up our phone. And then we'll say, "Call," along with the phone number that we want to call. Or if the person that we're calling has been added to our Contacts app, we can just say "Call," along with that person's name.
Now after finish speaking, Siri will say, "Calling" and then repeat the name or the number that we spoke. And our phone app will open and our call will be placed. So how about we give it a try? Let's just call my work number. I know this is pretty sad. I'll be calling myself. But anyway, let's go ahead and give it a try. Siri, call Douglas Walker - Work.
Siri: Calling Douglas - work.

Douglas: Okay, I have called myself and I'm leaving myself a voicemail. And I tell you that really was super fast. All right, to end or to hang up our call, we could of course perform our two finger double tap. Or we could once again just use Siri and we would just say, "Siri, hang up." So you know, how about we do just that? Siri, hang up.
Siri: Okay.
Douglas: Great, our phone call has ended. And hey, there you go. That's how we use Siri to place and hang up a phone call.
You know, if we really take advantage of all that Siri can do, it really does make some of our most common tasks so much faster. Again, my name is Douglas Walker, take care and I'll see you next time.
