iPhone/iPad: Siri for Alarms

Hello, my name is Douglas Walker. Today we're gonna be using Siri to set an alarm. Now Apple likes to call Siri our personal assistant. And with Siri we're able to do things like set a timer, check our weather, place a phone call, or even send a text message. And today, of course, is all about setting an alarm. So let's jump right in and use Siri to set an alarm.

Now, most of the time Siri is turned on during our setup process. However, if you didn't have a chance to set it up then, check out our resource area just below this workshop. There you'll find step by step directions for exactly how to get Siri all set up.

Yeah, and we currently have VoiceOver running which is Apple's built-in screen reader and this will ensure that we get the most interaction from Siri. And if you're not familiar with VoiceOver, you're really going to wanna check out our Listen with VoiceOver series.

Now I use my iPhone to set an alarm and wake me up every morning. And to set an alarm, all we have to do is to either say, "Siri" or "Hey Siri." You know, it really all depends on how we've set up our phone. And then we'll say the time for our alarm and we'll say something like, "Set an alarm" or "6:00 AM." So let's go ahead and get that a try. Siri, set an alarm for 6:00 AM.

Siri: I turned on your 6:00 AM alarm.

Douglas: Yeah, and there you go. Our alarm is now set for 6:00 AM and now we have no excuse to oversleep. Alright, let's say that we would like to turn off our alarm. Well, you've probably already guessed that we can have Siri do that as well. So let's go ahead and do that. Siri, turn off my alarm.

Siri: I turned off your 6:00 AM alarm.

Douglas: Yeah, and there you go. Our alarm is now turned off. Yeah, that's how we use Siri to set and turn off our alarms. So now we'll always be right on time. Again, my name is Douglas Walker. Take care, and I'll see you next time.
