Having someone assist us to find and sit down in a chair takes just a few steps to learn.
We start by asking the person guiding us to grasp the back of the chair with their guiding arm. Then, we can slide our hand down their arm to find the chairback ourselves. By swiping our hand down its back and seat, we can check which way the chair is facing and make sure the seat is clear and steady. Before sitting, we makes sure the backs of our legs are touching the front edge of the chair.
Sometimes, we may want to place the chair against a wall or a table to steady it before sitting down. Then, we hold both sides of the chair seat as we sit down. This can be especially helpful to steady us if the chair has wheels. With practice, these steps will become routine. Contact a learning expert with any questions or for more tips like this one.
