Hi, I'm Vikki Vaughan and in today's workshop, we'll have a look at various settings for making BARD Express easier to use.
This series is intended for individuals with low vision. We'll use a combination of mouse clicks and keyboard shortcuts. If you use a screen reader, be sure to check out the screen reading version of this series on Hadley's website.
Now it's important to note that we must have an active BARD account to use BARD Express. If you'd like to learn more, have a look at the first workshop in the series to learn how to set up your own free account.
Let's check out the BARD Express menu bar. It contains several helpful little nuggets for those of us with low vision. Let's start from our bookshelf. We see all of our books and magazines organized by type.
Now we'll jump into our view menu with the keyboard shortcut Alt+V for view. We can also open our view menu with our mouse pointer.
Ed: Now that you've had a chance to learn a bit with us, we'd like to learn more about you, your name, email address, how you heard about Hadley and your relationship to vision loss. Learning more will give us a better understanding of how to personalize Hadley just for you, and don't worry, everything you share with us online will be kept safe and secure. Of course, if you'd prefer to talk through these questions, we're just a phone call away at 800-323-4238.
Taking these few steps saves your preferences so you can continue right where you left off and track your progress every time you log on plus it connects you to the Hadley community and helps sustain our funding to keep Hadley free of charge. And last but not least, it gives you direct access to experts like me. Now, where were we?
