iPhone/iPad: Siri for Appointments

Hello, my name is Douglas Walker. Today, we're gonna be using Siri to set a calendar appointment. Now, Apple likes to call Siri our personal assistant. And with Siri, we're able to do things like set a timer, we're able to check our weather, or even get walking directions. And today, of course, is all about creating a calendar appointment. So let's jump right in and use Siri to set our appointment.

Okay, most of the time, Siri is turned on during our setup process. However, if you didn't have a chance to set it up then, check out our resource area just below this workshop. There, you'll find step-by-step directions for exactly how to get Siri all set up.

Yeah, and we currently have VoiceOver running, which is Apple's built-in screen reader. And this will ensure that we get the most interaction from Siri. And if you're not familiar with VoiceOver, you're really gonna wanna check out our Listen with VoiceOver series.

All right, to create our appointment, all we have to do is to either say, "Siri," or, "Hey, Siri." It all depends on how we've set up our phone. Now, it's a good idea to have a title in mind when we create our appointment. So we'll just say something like, "Create an appointment to record my video."

Yeah, Siri will then ask us for a date and time for our appointment. So we'll just speak the date and time, and our appointment will be placed right in our calendar app. Okay, how 'bout we go ahead and give it a try? Siri? Create an appointment to record my video.

Siri: When should I schedule it for?

Douglas: Tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.

Siri: Record my video is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. tomorrow.

Douglas: Yeah, and there you go. Now, Siri will continue to listen, and we could make another request if we like, which is really great. But we'll just go ahead and swipe up to close our Siri screen for now. All right, and that's how we use Siri to create our calendar appointment. You know, it's so great that Siri has given us a really quick way to add all of our appointments right to our calendar app. And hey, now we know for sure that we won't miss any important events.
