If you don't already know how to read the bold, underline, and italics in braille, we recommend first doing Hadley's reading workshop, Braille Special Symbols Workshop 7: Bold, Underline, Italics.

Okay, let's take a fast look at these symbols. Turn to page 22 in the workbook. At the top of the page, read the bold, italics, and underline typeform indicator and terminator symbols.

Let's practice writing these symbols in sentences. Just as with workshop 6, the sentences are written in the workbook without any indicators.

Go to the workbook to read each sentence, then select or press Play to hear the typeform directions for that sentence. Then, braille the sentence. Use the sentences in the workbook to also check punctuation and spelling.

To begin, start on a new line and write 1. Be sure to indent each runover line, two spaces. Use capitalization and punctuation as you would in print, and do not divide words between lines.

1. QE2 and The Queen Elizabeth 2 are underlined.
2. The word please is in bold.
3. The 4 in 24, and the 3 in 23 are underlined.
4. The words DO NOT ENTER are fully capitalized and bold.
5. The € and $ symbols are written in italics.
6. The single letter p is bold.
7. The words herb, knick-knack, psychic, and wrinkle are italicized.
8. The word FOR is fully capitalized and underlined. The word EVERYONE is fully capitalized and bold.
9. The sentence is fully capitalized and bold.
10. The words Lilies of the Field are italicized.
11. CEO is fully capitalized. The C in Chief, the E in Executive, and the O in Officer are underlined.
12. DO NOT is fully capitalized and bold.
13. Grade A and Grade B are underlined.
14. The words Get 20% off are bold.
15. Hello and good-bye are italicized.
16. The Bs in Betty, Botter, bought, and butter are bold.
17. The words self-help are italicized.
18. The 11:00 showing is underlined.
19. The first a in separately is underlined.
20. 7 and up are italicized.

Now you can check your work by comparing your sentences to the contracted braille on pages 25 and 26.
