Hello, my name is Douglas Walker. Today we're gonna be using Siri to turn on Do Not Disturb. Now, turning on Do Not Disturb means that all of our phone calls and notifications will be silenced. That means that our device won't be ringing and pinging. So this can be really handy if maybe we're in a meeting, a library, or anywhere that we want our device to be muted.
Now Apple likes to call Siri our personal assistant. And with Siri we're able to do things like set a reminder. We're able to create an appointment, place a phone call or even send a text message. And today, of course, is all about Do Not Disturb. So let's jump right in and use Siri to turn on Do Not Disturb.
Yeah, most of the time Siri is turned on during our setup process. However, if you didn't have a chance to set it up then, check out our resource area just below this workshop. There you'll find step-by-step directions for exactly how to get Siri all set up.
Yeah, and we currently have voiceover running which is Apple's built-in screen reader. This will ensure that we get the most interaction from Siri. And if you're not familiar with voiceover you're really gonna wanna check out our Listen with VoiceOver series.
All right, all we have to do to turn on Do Not Disturb is to either say "Siri" or "Hey Siri." It all depends on how we set up our phone. And then we'll just say, "Turn on Do Not Disturb." And of course Siri will announce, "Okay, I've turned on Do Not Disturb." Yeah, so how about we go ahead and give that a try. Siri, turn on Do Not Disturb.
Siri: Okay, I turned Do Not disturb on.
Douglas: Great, and there you go. Do Not Disturb is now on and our device will remain silent Now, Siri will continue to listen and we could make another request if we like which is really great. But we'll just go ahead and swipe up to close our Siri screen for now. All right, so what if we want to turn off our Do Not Disturb? Well, you've guessed it. We can also use Siri to do just that. So let's do it. Siri, turn off Do Not disturb.
Siri: Okay, Do Not Disturb is now off.
Douglas: All right, Do Not Disturb is now off. And there you go. Now remember, Siri will continue to listen so that we could make another request, which is really great, but we'll just go ahead and swipe up to close our Siri screen. We'll do that.
Yeah, and that's how we use Siri to turn our Do Not Disturb on and off. You know, it really is so nice to have the ability to mute all of the sounds on our device, and Siri gives us a really fast way to do just that. Again, my name is Douglas Walker. Take care and I'll see you next time.
